It is a rare series that was made for the department store Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Galeries Lafayette was founded in 1894. Created two years later, it is a sophisticated and glamorous series that women like. Flowers look like cherry or peach blossoms.
This is a 23cm cruise plate (deep plate). Use it for soups, curries, pasta, dishes with sauces, etc.
"Terre de fer" is pottery (semi-ceramic semi-porcelain) to which a lot of kaolin and feldspar are added. It was mass-produced in the second half of the 19th century. It was made to be whiter and more robust. This plate also has "Terre de fer" written on the back.
It is neatly penetrated. There are some stains from penetration, but this is also the charm of antiques, penetration.
