Located in the Jura department near the Swiss border, Saran is an old kiln founded in 1857. You can't meet many like Sargminne and Lunéville, but they make beautiful things steadily, and this Compottier has a very elegant and noble design with a rocaille pattern. Since it is a tail de ferre, it seems to be around 1900, but it is in the best condition, and I think I will probably never see the same compotier in the same state again. It's that beautiful!
"Terre de fer" Pottery with a lot of kaolin and feldspar (semi-ceramic semi-porcelain) is called Terre de fer Terre de ferre . It was first produced in 1770 and mass-produced in the late 19th century. It was made to be whiter and more robust. This compotier also has "Terre de fer" written on the back.
It is a low type of compotier with a diameter of 24 cm and a height of 4 cm. It is an easy-to-use size that is just right for putting chocolate and snacks on it. Small whole cakes are also available.
There is no damage such as chips or cracks, and it is in very good condition as an antique item, but since time has passed, there are some fine cutlery scratches. Please purchase after understanding antiques.
Compottier is one price. There is a stamp on the back.
